Detainees shocked at own ‘complaint’

Kathmandu, August 27:

Detainees at the Dillibazaar Detention Centre today said a complaint reportedly filed on their behalf demanding action against murder convict Deepak Manange is false. According to a press release signed by the 181 detainees, the complaint is a ploy against Manange. “We are shocked to read the complaint reportedly filed by us at the Home Ministry, the Office of the Inspector General of police, the Valley Police Office and the Central Jail on Thursday,” the release said. SSP Sanandan Prasad Kurmi, spokesperson for Valley Police Office, said the prisoners’ statements were contradictory. Manange is serving a prison term on charges of four attempted murders.
