KATHMANDU, AUGUST 14

Nepali Congress (NC) President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that informed, responsible, and proper use of digital platforms paves the way for a progressive digital future.

Inaugurating the programme "Use, Impact and Effects of Digital Platforms", organized by the NC Information, Communications, and Publicity Department at the party's central office in Sanepa today, Deuba remarked that everyone can contribute to society and the nation through the responsible use of digital technology.

"Digital platforms have made services and facilities more prompt and transparent. By using them positively, we can contribute to individual, societal, and national development," the former Prime Minister said.

He noted that millions of people connect to digital platforms every day via mobile phones, the internet, computers, and social networking sites. These platforms, he added, are being utilized in key sectors such as education, healthcare, banking, aviation, and public services-areas that directly impact daily life.

Praising the expanding role of information technology in delivering public services quickly, conveniently, and transparently, Deuba pointed out that digital-friendly initiatives-such as wider internet access, mobile banking, online applications, digital healthcare, and e-learning-have gradually transformed people's lives.

"The Telecommunications Policy, Act, and Regulations, formulated and implemented under the initiative of the NC-led government, have provided access to technology for all Nepali citizens, particularly those in remote areas. However, much still remains to be done in the technology sector," he acknowledged.

Deuba reaffirmed that the NC has consistently supported social transformation through innovation and technology. "The NC is committed to formulating public policies that utilize digital platforms to boost economic activities, strengthen good governance, and promote innovation in various sectors, including the private sector," he stated.

He also called for large-scale public awareness campaigns to mitigate the harmful aspects of technology. "Such events can play a vital role in promoting the responsible and reliable use of technology," he added.

Speaking at the programme, NC Assistant General Secretary Mahalaxmi Upadhyay Dina observed that the digital medium has become indispensable in modern life, with much to learn regarding its effective utilization.

Similarly, NC Central Information, Communications, and Publicity Department Chief Min Bahadur Biswokarma emphasized the importance of effectively using digital platforms in today's modern world, stressing the need to communicate the party's activities and messages to the public through these channels.
