KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology on Wednesday sounded flood alert to people living on either side of the Bishnumati and Dhobikhola rivers.

Cumulonimbus clouds over Shivapuri, the northern part of Kathmandu, has triggered heavy rain which is likely to lead to flash flood. “Therefore, people are advised to maintain alert on the riverside after 5:00pm onwards on Wednesday,” the DoHM said.

Cumulonimbus is a dense towering vertical cloud associated with thunderstorms and atmospheric instability, forming from water vapour carried by powerful upward air currents.
