DHRC marks Disabled Voice anniv

Nepal Disabled Human Rights Centre (DHRC-Nepal) today marked the fourth anniversary of its Disabled Voice national monthly magazine and third anniversary of the ‘Disabled Voice’ weekly radio programme, according to a statement issued here today.

Speakers at the function organised to celebrate the anniversaries expressed their views on the importance of the media in highlighting the welfare and rights of the disabled.

Speaking at the programme, Shanta Thapaliya, president of Legal Aid Consultancy Centre (LACC), said media could show the disabled people the right path to progress.

Min Raj Panthi of the Action Aid Nepal said the radio programme and the magazine have been successful in bringing out the human rights issues of the disabled to the fore.

To create an awareness on the disabled, present their talents, inform them about their rights and bring them into the mainstream of national development, have been the main objectives of the radio programme and the magazine, said Maheshwore Ghimire, general secretary of Nepal Disabled Human Rights Centre.
