Dhungana praises UML, Maoists’ role
Kathmandu, April 11:
Former speaker of the House of Representatives and civil society leader Daman Nath Dhungana today said the Maoists and the CPN-UML exhibited maturity by observing restraint during the CA polls despite the killing of their candidate and cadres in Surkhet and Dang, respectively.
UML candidate Rishi Prasad Sharma was killed in Surkhet and seven Maoist cadres were killed in Dang a day before the April 10 election. “We visited the districts, probed the incidents and called the locals to maintain self-control in order to make the CA election a success,” Dhungana said.
A five-member team lead by Dhungana had visited Dang and Surkhet districts. Dr Birendra Prasad Mishra, Stella Tamang, Shyam Shrestha and Marcos Henninger were other members of the team.
