KATHMANDU, MARCH 15

Dipesh Pun, the son of former Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun, has been arrested on charges of his involvement in gold smuggling.

Nepal Police spokesperson, DIG Bhim Prasad Dhakal, informed that Pun was apprehended in Kathmandu on Friday.

Investigations revealed that Dipesh Pun had close connections with Dawa Chhiring, the mastermind behind the smuggling of nearly 61 kg of gold confiscated from the customs office of Tribhuvan International Airport last June.

The commission formed to investigate gold smuggling had submitted its report to the Home Minister yesterday, implicating Pun in the smuggling."
