Discussion on media’s role in controlling drug abuse held

Participants of an interaction on "Role of media in controlling drug abuse" today lauded the role of media in controlling drug abuse. Addressing the function, under-secretary of the Ministry of Home, Dilli Prasad Siwakoti, said the government would seek support from various sections of society. "That includes students, press, elected local bodies, NGOs and community organisations," he said, adding that the network of reporters working on the issues of drug addiction would accelerate the goal of controlling addiction more effectively. Bhupendra Bahadur Thapa, director of the Department of Drug Administration said that inappropriate use of medicines can kill people and requested media persons to be more conscious and responsible while reporting the issues of drug addiction.
