Disseminate objective and factual news: Acting CJ Parajuli
KATHMANDU: Acting Chief Justice Gopal Prasad Parajuli has urged media persons to disseminate objective and factual news and information, pointing out the anomalies and inconsistencies in society.
Speaking at a programme in the Capital on Thursday, the Acting Chief Justice said the media should fulfill the people's right to information abiding by the constitution and existing laws, and taking into account the nation and the nationality.
"Carry out your works keeping greed, avarice, desire and disaster at bay," he urged the journalists and the media.
Speaking at the programme, Nepali Congress leader Prakash Sharan Mahat said the online media should play a responsible role for relaying news and information to the people promptly by using technology.
CPN Maoist Centre leader Naryan Kaji Shrestha said the country could be developed only if politics was purified and the responsibility of purifying the country's politics has come upon the shoulders of the journalists.
CPN -UML leader Shankar Pokharel called on the online media not only to focus on increasing readership but do so by disseminating factual news and information keeping the nationality at the centre.
CPN Maoist Centre leader Barsha Man Pun, RPP leader Rajendra Lingden, Rastriya Janata Party leader Chanda Chaudhari, among other speakers, said that the online media should play key role in taking the country towards the economic development.
