‘Dissolve Ranger Battalion’
KATHMANDU: Speaking in the House of Representatives, Chief Whip of ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Dev Prasad Gurung on Monday said the Ranger Battalion of the Nepali Army should be dissolved.
The Ranger Battalion of NA was formed during the Maoist insurgency in Nepal during 1996-2006 with the support of the US government.
“Those bodies formed during the insurgency should be dissolved as we don’t require them now,” he said, adding that the Ranger Battalion should be dissolved.
Moreover, Gurung also said that the NA should not form a regiment from the battalion.
