Kathmandu, March 9
The Election Commission said today it was preparing to send copies of the report prepared by the Local Bodies Restructuring Commission to all districts.
Officials said the Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development today sent a copy of the LBRC report on the number and boundaries of local levels to the commission to make preparations for local level election.
“We have received the endorsed LBRC report. We will send copies of the report to districts as soon as possible,” said EC Spokesperson Surya Prasad Sharma. He said the report would help the EC’s district committees take decision on polling centres and set up local election offices. The EC has district election committees headed by chief district officers in all districts.
Due to lack of LBRC report, the commission had not been able to take a decision on polling centers, set up local election offices and other make necessary preparations.
Meanwhile, the election body said it had started investigation into cases of poll code violation registered formally with the commission.
Spokesperson Sharma said the EC had received over 100 complaints related to violation of election code of conduct.
