Doctors stage protest

LALITPUR: Patan Hospital doctors and employees today staged a sit-in protest on the premises of the hospital demanding security of health personnel while they are on duty. A senior official from Hospital Administration, on condition of anonymity, today said doctors and employees at the hospital staged a sit-in protest by tying black bands around their arms from 10:00am for an hour. He said that they have been staging sit-in protest for the past few days. However, the services were not halted during protest. Earlier on September 10, an assistant sub-inspector of Nepal Police, Bijaya Silwal had manhandled senior doctors Dr Sanchit Karki and Dr Bimal Panday over a dispute over arranging an ambulance to ferry a patient. Hospital authority said they lodged a complaint against Silwal, but they were yet to confirm any action against him. Thus, the doctors decided to continue their protest until the guilty was booked.
