Dolphin festival in Kailali
KATHMANDU: Locals of Kailali are all set to organise the Dolphin Festival 2066 in Kailali district from August 19-25. Kailali district of the far-west region is famous for the rare river dolphins.
Mohana river of Kailali is the habitat of the dolphins in the rainy season. A conservation area has also been established 90 km off Dhangadi headquarters. The area includes Thapapur, Bhajani and Narayanpur, which hundreds of tourists visit to see the dolphins annually.
Organising a press release in the capital today, the organisers of the festival said it is a sobering experience to see the dolphins in their natural habitat. Tikapur Industry and Commerce Association, Kailali Municipality and the Dolphin Conservation Centre, Thapapur are jointly organising the festival with the support of the Nepal Tourism Board.
