KATHMANDU, MARCH 10

The newly-appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health and Population, Upendra Yadav, has assumed office at the Ministry after taking the oath of office and secrecy from the President today.

On this occasion, he has signed his first decision aimed at removing delays in surgical services observed at federal and provincial hospitals, ensuring prompt services.

Additionally, he has decided to enhance the effectiveness of digital technology to alleviate the inconvenience of long queues for accessing health services.

"The necessity for patients to endure long lines to access medical services should cease. We will establish systems allowing patients to schedule appointments from their homes through online and digital technologies. Furthermore, we will bolster the capacity of government health institutions to provide quality healthcare," stated the DPM and Health Minister.

Yadav, the Chair of Nepal's Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP), was elected to the House of Representatives (HoR) in the by-election held on April 23, 2023, representing the Bara constituency-2. Previously, he served as the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health and Population in 2075 BS.
