Dr Ravi R Kasliwal, chairman of Preventive and Clinical Cardiology, Medanta the Medicity, today said that South East Asia was heading for trouble due to rise in cardiovascular and chronic respiratory diseases, cancer and diabetes.

Speaking at a talk programme on Mission Save Heart 2016, Dr Kasliwal, who arrived in Norvic International Hospital for a free health camp on August 13, said that as per World Health Organisation 25 per cent of South Asians, including Nepalis, are at risk of premature death from NCDs.

A press release issued here today by Norvic International Hospital said he was invited by the Heart Foundation and Heart Club Nepal to share latest updates on preventive and clinical cardiology. He also cited the UN General Assembly resolution, which says that if nothing is done in the next 25 years, US $ 47 trillion need to be spent to control NCDs and US $ 500 billion a year in low and middle income countries.
