Kathmandu, November 19

Senior orthopaedic surgeon Dr Govinda KC was admitted to Manmohan Cardiothoracic Vascular and Transplant Centre early morning today.

The senior doctor was admitted to the emergency ward of MCVTC around 6:00am after experiencing severe chest pain. According to a family source, Dr KC experienced severe pain at 4:00am and was rushed to the hospital.

According Dr Abhishek Raj Singh, Dr KC’s aide, he is presently undergoing treatment at the Centre and has been shifted to the coronary care unit from emergency ward.

Dr Arun Sayami at the medical facility is carrying out medical examinations on Dr KC. “We admitted him in the emergency after Dr KC experienced excessive chest pain. Now we have shifted him to the CCU ward after conducting medical tests.” He also informed Dr KC’s health was improving.

“Dr KC’s chest pain has been recurring. Severe pain had been diagnosed one year earlier and it was also experienced after his 15 fast-unto-death ended,” said Pritam Subedi, aide to Dr KC. “Doctors involved in Dr KC’s treatment suspect that the pain recurred because of prolonged hunger strike,” he added.
