Drama festival concludes

Three-days-National Drama Festival organized by Royal Nepal Academy on the occasion of the centennial of prominent dramatist late Bal Krishna Sama concluded here on Wednesday.

On the concluding day, vice-chancellor of the academy Mohan Koirala awarded the winners of the drama show competition. At the time, Koirala awarded Krishna Gautam, Kishor Anurag and Kailash Karki as the best actress, best director and best actor respectively. Each award carries 12 hundred rupees with certificate. 10 different groups from different seven districts have participated the competition among them Kamal Gaonle group of Dang stood first in the category of best actress and best director while Matribhumi Stage of Kathmandu stood first in the category of best actor. On the last day of the carnival, one-act play of Sama named ‘prem’ was also shown by National Studio of Film Training Centre which was not included in the competition.

Speaking at the occasion, Koirala said that the academy became successful to give continuity organizing drama festival even in the worsening theatre as well as national condition. Senior artist Nir Shah stated that the academy compelled to shorten the time and number of the dramas due to the prevalent situation however, the festival became successful; it’s itself a important.
