Drug peddler heading to Bangkok with 5 kg hashish held from TIA

KATHMANDU: A drug peddler, who was on his way to Bangkok of Thailand with 5 kg of hashish consignment, has been arrested from Tribhuvan International Airport recently.

Sleuths of Narcotics Control Bureau deployed at the TIA apprehended 30-year-old Kumar Singh Tamang with the drug around 9 am on Friday.

In a statement today, NCB said, Tamang, permanent resident of Khainyabas Rural Municipality-4 in Dhading district, was heading to Bangkok with the drug consignment via Nepal Airlines of flight number RA401.

Police had intercepted Tamang in suspicion and X-ray machine there revealed large quantity of drug made as false bottom hidden inside his suitcase.

NCB team also seized Tamang's passport, US Dollar 900 and air ticket from his possession, it said in a statement.

After intense interrogation, Tamang unveiled that the suitcase was handed over by 36-year-old Rabin Kumar Gurung of Khaniyabas Rural Municipality-3 in Dhading district.

According to police, Gurung was nabbed from Baniyatar in Tokha Municipality around 4 pm on the same day.

It has been learned that Gurung is currently residing in Tokha Municipality-11.

Meanwhile, the investigation is underway.
