EC wants court officials for CA polls

Kathmandu, July 24:

The Chief Justice and a team of Election Commissioners, including the Chief Election Commissioner, today discussed the deployment of district court judges and judicial officials as election officers.

“CJ Dilip Prasad Paudel assured the Election Commissioners that he would place the issue before the Judicial Council and the Judicial Service Commission,” said SC assistant spokesperson Hemanta Rawal.

Rawal said the CJ, who is also the ex-officio chairperson of the Judicial Council and the Judicial Service Commission, assured the Election Commission officials that he would take an appropriate decision.

Today’s meeting was attended by Election Commissioners Usha Nepal, Nil Kantha Uprety, Dr Ayodhi Prasad Yadav and Dolakh Bahadur Gurung and Justice Kedar Prasad Giri, SC registrar Dr Ram Krishna Timalsena and Secretary of the Judicial Council Prakash Kumar Dhungana.
