Edu consultancy operator duo held for swindling 11 persons
KATHMANDU: Two operators of an education consultancy were arrested for allegedly swindling 11 persons of Rs 4.53 million.
The Metropolitan Police Crime Division (MPCD) said it arrested Sadhana Basnet (28) from Sunakothi of Lalitpur and Ram Kumar Ranjitkar (45), operators of Kalimati-based Express Entry Education World Pvt Ltd, acting on complaints filed by the victims.
The institution had assured them to send to South Africa for security guard jobs with handsome salaries, according to police.
The duo have been sent to the Metropolitan Police Circle, Kalimati, for further investigations and actions.
The MPCD on Tuesday and Wednesday had raided 23 consultancies of the town and detained their operators. Police, then, had asked members of the public to inform if they were defrauded by education consultancies.
The MPCD said, of the detainees, nine have been sent to the Metropolitan Police Circle, Kalimati for further actions while two others were handed over to the Metropolitan Police Circle, Singhadurbar. One of the detainees has been sent to the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu.
