'Deployment of Education Ministry staff only on seniority basis'
KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Education has taken a stance that its employees be deployed in the local levels only on the basis of seniority.
Speaking in an interaction entitled 'When will the Education Ministry employees go to the local level?' organised by the Education Journalists Group in the Capital on Thursday, spokesperson for the Ministry Hari Lamsal said the Education Ministry has urged the other ministries concerned to deploy the Education Ministry employees to the local levels only on seniority basis.
The Ministry has presently suspended the deputation of its 78 under-secretaries that it had deployed to different local levels so far, without deploying them to these levels.
Lamsal said the employees of the Education Ministry were eager to go to the local levels as per the provisions of the Civil Service Act but were unwilling to work under the Executive Officers of local level junior to them.
The under-secretaries of the Ministry of Education are refusing to go to the local levels citing that the chief executive officer of the local levels they have been deputed was junior to them.
As per the Schedule 8 and 9 of the constitution, the local levels have been given the right for managing schools and education at the local levels.
The Education Ministry spokesman said they are waiting the government's decision on this matter which is expected to come in a week's time.
