Eight parties lack unity, says Sharma

Kathmandu, May 30:

Maoist leader Dinanath Sharma today said that the lack of understanding among the leaders of the eight parties is hampering the introduction of the bill related to the election to the constituent assembly.

“The problem lies with the eight parties. Despite the repeated meetings or attempts to hold meetings, the leaders of the eight parties have not come to any understanding on the necessary bills. This is giving rise to uncertainty in the nation,” he said, addressing a meeting at the office of the Election Commission.

He said some forces have been diverting the issue of the constituent assembly for the past 58 years. “These forces are working more actively these days,” he said, adding: “We have to be alert with the political forces that are ready to sabotage the constituent assembly and create unrest,” he said. He also condemned the forces which planted a bomb in the Maoist party office at Buddhanagar yesterday.

Chief Election Commissioner Bhoj Raj Pokhrel said election-related laws can be introduced once the date for the constituent assembly polls is fixed. He also briefed about the progress made by the EC on updating the voters’ list in the past two months.
