Election Commission trains parties in audit

KATHMANDU: The Election Commission has started a training programme on auditing of annual income and expenditure and election expenditures of political parties registered at the Commission.

Representatives from 179 political parties registered at the Commission are attending the six-day training that began today. The training will run under the model of group-wise sessions.

Presentation of working papers on technical issues relating to the submission of audit report of annual income and expenditure details of political parties and election spending, group-wise discussions among the representatives of political parties and interactions are the parts of training, according to Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ayodhi Prasad Yadav.

Election Commissioner Ila Sharma said transparency in every activity of political parties would help strengthen democracy.
