Entry of new microbuses to be opposed

Kathmandu, July 9:

Microbus entrepreneurs in the Bagmati zone yesterday expressed serious concern about the government’s effort to replace some 1,400 gas tempos in the Valley with new microbuses.

Organising a press conference here yesterday, the entrepreneurs warned that they would go for strong protests if the government replaces the three-wheelers with microbuses.

Convener of the Bagmati Zonal Committee of the Federation of Nepalese National Transport Entrepreneurs (FNNTE) Rajan Rokka claimed that the entry of more microbuses would seriously affect the business of the existing ones and would invite unhealthy competition among the entrepreneurs. He also said the proposal was prepared without consulting them.
