Ex-Lanka PM meets PM Koirala

Kathmandu, January 27:

Leader of the United Nationalist Party (UNP) of Sri Lanka, and Former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, who is on a visit to Nepal, called on Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala at the Prime Minister’s residence this morning.

On the occasion, the leaders discussed various issues of bilateral interests and concerns as well as regional and international affairs.

Talking to journalists after the meeting with PM Koirala, Wickremesinghe expressed confidence that Nepal’s peace process would be successful under the leadership of Koirala.

Various problems surfacing in transition is normal, Wickremesinghe, who is also the leader of Sri Lankan opposition, said. He said united efforts of all the political parties is indispensable for the resolution of problems.

The statement of Wickremesinghe was aimed at the violent activities in Nepal’s Terai region. The Terai incident is Nepal’s internal matter he said.
