Exclusion of Hindu issues in CA questionnaires draws flak

Kathmandu, March 27:

Nepal National Committee of the World Hindu Federation today expressed serious concern about the CA questionnaires designed to collect suggestions on future constitution for excluding questions related to Hindu religion. A statement issued by the committee condemned the government for not including questions about the Hindu religion.

It also submitted a nine-point suggestion letter to CA chairman Subas Chandra Nembang and the CA committees.

“There must be a phrase ‘Nepal will be a religiously discrimination-free independent nation’ in the new constitution instead of a secular state,” reads the letter.

The suggestions also include formation of a high-level inclusive National Religion Commission, recognising cow as national animal, welfare of women without discrimination, executive parliamentary prime ministerial, among others.
