Fake currency racket busted
KATHMANDU: Metropolitan Police Range (MPR), Lalitpur today seized counterfeit notes amounting to Rs 292,000 and Indian currency 5,000 along with two photocopiers, 1 printer and a fake pistol.
SP Bikram Thapa of the Metropolitan Police Range stated that they had confiscated the fake currency from an Indian national, residing in a rented room in Lalitpur. SP Thapa further said, “We detained him on a tip-off from a reliable source.”
“We have seized the counterfeit notes and other items”, he added. The police was yet to disclose the identity of the Indian national. The police suspects involvement of a fake currency racket.
A further investigation was on for confirmation, the SP maintained.
