Familylinks ANSWERS application launched

KATHMANDU: The International Committee of Red Cross and Nepal Red Cross Society today signed a licence and services agreement with Familylinks ANSWERS, a web-based application that supports restoring family links activities in the aftermath of disasters.

For many years, ICRC has been developing expertise in helping families separated by conflicts, disasters or migration to restore contact.

Depending on the changing nature of armed conflict and other violence, natural as well as man-made disasters, massive displacement and migration, Familylinks ANSWERS application has made it possible for the Red Cross and Red Crescent societies to take advantage of the latest technologies with the objective to improve the case management and transmission of information in its global network, read a press release issued by the ICRC and NRCS.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Deputy Head of ICRC delegation in Nepal, Alfredo Mallet, said, “Nepal is the first country in Asia to benefit from this application which is expected to add to the capacity of Nepal Red Cross to closely follow family link cases in a more efficient and modern way.” Globally, Nepal is the 16th country to receive this application. Familylinks ANSWERS is part of a more comprehensive system of information management, it informed.
