The Kirtipur Ward Police Office has arrested 38-year old Hemlal Shrestha for raping his daughter. Inspector Ramesh Gautamsaid the victim came to the police office straight from her rented house immediately after being raped for the second time by her father. Archana Shrestha (name changed), the victim, said her father came to her bedroom night before yesterday night after he quarrelled with her stepmother Ambika. “He was drunk and asked me to massage his body,” she told the police. After two minutes of massage, he pounced on her, took off her clothes and raped her, according to Archana. Archana hid herself in another house the following day. When Hemlal found his daughter was hiding in another house, he brought her to his rented room at Panga, Kirtipur-18 after promising not to ravage her again. “My daughter also agreed that she won’t complain to the police if I did not take advantage of her again,” Hemlal said.

When they reached the room, Hemlal again raped his daughter at around 2 pm. “The girl came straight to the police office after being raped for the second time as her stepmother paid no heed to her complaint,” Gautam told this daily. Hailing from Jyamire of Sindhuli district, the Shrestha family was staying at Kirtipur for the last four years. “My mother eloped with another man after she came to know that my father had an affair with his maternal aunt who was 16 years old then,” Archana said.
