Kathmandu, March 6:
Youths of the Kathmandu Valley today celebrated the festival of Holi by playing with colours and water. People of all religions, castes and groups participated in splashing friends with water and colours all the day. People threw water to the passers-by from windows and terraces.
This festival is related to the Hindu mythology about Holika, the sister of demon-king Hiranyakashyapu, who commissioned her to kill his son Pralhad. She once tried to kill Pralhad by going into the fire with the boy, but the boy came out while she herself turned to ashes. And people celebrated the death of Holika with colours.
