Kathmandu, March 3:

The person, who identified himself as Suraj Bista and allegedly tried to loot Rs 2.5 million from Bharat Devkota and his wife on the premises of the Chabahil branch of the Agriculture Development Bank Limited yesterday, is, in fact, Manoj Gautam with four other nicknames, police said.

He passed the BBS from the Shanker Dev Campus in first division.

“Bista’s real name is Manoj Gautam and he has other four nicknames with different addresses. He is found staying at the Paradise Hostel with the name of Manoj Gaucharan. We also found other documents that describes him as Nicolus Gautam, Rajib Mainali and Suraj Bista,” SP Dhak Bahadur Karki at the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu, said.

He has an account at Hulak Sewa Bachat Bank in the name of Manoj Gautam and another account at the Bank of Kathmandu at Nicolus Gautam’s name.

Gautam was preparing to fly to New Zealand and wanted to make quick money. The police said that Gautam is the son of Sher Bahadur Gautam, who stays at Kamalpokhari. He completed his School Leaving Certificate from VS Niketan, 10+2 level from the Xavier Academy and Bachelor in Business Studies from Shankerdev Campus in first division, the police said.

“I looted this pistol from the security personnel of the Agriculture Bank Limited Branch office at Chandanigahapur at Rautahat when Maoists looted the bank some four years ago. At that time, I was in the Maoist party,” the police quoted him as saying. The police said Gautam has Membership Card of Rastriya Prajatantra Party.

Karki said they were trying to find out whether he was involved in other looting cases.

Meanwhile, a main server computer, a CPU and Hard Disk were stolen from the Chabahil branch of the Agriculture Development Bank last night. The incident occurred when three security guards stationed there were asleep.
