KATHMANDU: Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) submitted a draft of Mass Communication Bill-2075 BS to Minister of Communication and Information Technology Gokul Prasad Baskota on Thursday.

The model Bill has specified provisions implying that an integrated law should be framed for all media and that no provision should be enshrined in the to-be-framed Mass Communication bill allowing control on media on any basis.

Minister Baskota stated that the government is making necessary preparation to introduce Integrated Mass Communication Act based on the recommendations of the concerned authorities in line with the spirit of the draft.

The communications minister added that the government is making necessary preparations to introduce the Mass Communication Act in a bid to distinguish social media and mainstream media while making mass media dignified, authentic and responsible.
