FNJ social media campaign seeks revision on statute draft
KATHMANDU: The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has expressed its serious concern over various clauses relating right to freedom enshrined in the Revised Bill of Nepal's Constitution.
Issuing a press release here on Thursday, the umbrella organisation of Nepali journalists said that it has launched a social media and SMS-based campaign with slogans so as to mount pressure for the amendments to freedom-related provisions specified in the amended proposal of the constitution.
The FNJ came up with the campaign in which its members across the country circulated messages on Tweeter and Facebook and through mobile messages at 11:00 am today that read 'Amend Restrictive Clauses; Guarantee Press Freedom in the Constitution'.
The journalists working under the same campaign put pressures on the lawmakers of their respective electoral constituencies for the same.
Likewise, the FNJ has announced to organise a protest assembly at Babarmahal, Kathmandu to draw public attention on the issue at 11:00 am on Friday.
