Govt to establish friendly relations between employers, workers: Minister Bista

KATHMANDU: Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security, Gokarna Bista, has assured that the government was committed to establishing friendly relations between employers and workers.

Responding to queries raised by lawmakers on Appropriation Bill-2075 at National Assembly today, Minister Bista also said that activities have been forwarded to make foreign employment reliable, systematic and safe.

He said, "Evils and aberrations would not again take place in this sector. The task to produce skilled human resources inside the country would be made very effective along with trust-worthy, systematic and transparent employment."

He informed that an Act incorporating the minimum wage of workers would be implemented from July 17, also mentioning that task would be forwarded to widen the basis of employment through collaboration between the government and private sector to produce skilled human resources.

Minister Bista further said that they had prepared a programme in order to provide employment to 100,000 youths in a year under 'Prime Minister Employment Programme', and employment information centre would be established at all 753 local-levels.

Stressing that it was the government's responsibility to provide employment to youths, Minister Bista said, "Around 4.3 million youths are now in different countries for overseas employment. It is necessary to prepare a basis of development through employment, failing which the country will run out of young people within few years."
