Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari emphasized the cultural significance of Rakshabandhan, highlighting its vital role in strengthening familial love and bonds.
In a social media message today, she extended her best wishes to all Nepali citizens on the occasion of Janai Purnima, Rakshabandhan, and the Kwanti festival-a tradition centered around enjoying kwanti, a nutritious dish made from a mixture of various grains.
She noted that Rakshabandhan serves as a meaningful means to deepen familial affection, bonding, and intimacy. Similarly, the custom of consuming kwanti reflects profound respect for indigenous knowledge concerning food, its health benefits, and the preservation of Nepal's rich culinary heritage, the former President added.
Describing the festival celebrations as a testament to Nepal's faith in civilization, culture, and spirituality, she underscored their importance in fostering spiritual purity, strength, and patience.
Former President Bhandari also expressed hope that such cultural festivals will continue to promote social unity, harmony, and goodwill throughout the nation.
