Four cases of theft recorded in Valley during dashain

Kathmandu, October 4:

Four cases of theft were reported during dashain in the Valley, police said today. According to the police, unidentified persons broke into a house rented by a foreigner at Baluwatar yesterday and made away with a video camera and a mobile set worth Rs 140,000.

Police said that there was no security guard in the house and the owner of the house is outside the nation. The foreigner occasionally stays in the house.

Also in Baluwatar, unidentified persons made away with one DVD player and other valuables from a house rented by an Indian national G Mallik.

At Thapagaon, unidentified persons yesterday night broke into the office of Non-Governmental Organisation-Forum (NGO-Forum) and vandalised furniture and scattered documents.

“The persons might have entered the office with the intention of stealing cash. As they didn’t find any cash, they vandalised the office goods,” a police official said. Tri Ratna Manandhar of the NGO-Forum said that they didn’t find anything lost from the office. The same group also vandalised goods of the INFO, a non-governmental organisation. An unidentified group made away with property worth Rs 130,000 from the house of Kaji Maharjan at Shankhamul.
