KATHMANDU: Four persons were arrested in possession of a fake gun from Nayabazar area of KMC-16.

The suspects were spotted lurking in the area brandishing the pistol-like weapon, apparently with intent to commit robbery, on Monday, compelling the general public to tip off the police about the suspicious activities in their neighbourhood.

A team deployed from the Lainchaur-bases Metropolitan Police Circle intercepted the suspects and took them in custody after the discovery of pistol that had an imprint of "USG-MM-Peretta".

Police later found out that it was a fake weapon.

One of the suspects has been identified as Purna Bahadur Tamang (30) of Nuwakot, now residing in Balaju of Kathmandu.

Meanwhile, police said a homemade gun was found on the bank of Bagarkhola at Khanigaun-4 of Nuwakot district.

Local police are looking into the cases.
