Fourth test tube baby born

Keshab Bhattarai and Neeta Bhattarai joined the list of parents blessed with test tube babies. Their test tube baby weighing 2.9 kg was delivered at Om Hospital and Research Centre Pvt Ltd today. This is the first tube baby who has completed the 38-week-long gestation period.
A team of doctors led by Dr Bhola Rijal performed the caesarian operation on the mother, this morning. Dr Rijal, director at Om Hospital and Research Centre, said they had planned for the babies’ births after the completion of the full gestation period, but due to abrupt deterioration in the of Sandhya, the mother of first test tube baby, the child had to delivered in 36 weeks.
“Both the mother and baby are doing well,” said Dr Rijal, talking to The Himalayan Times. Neeta Bhattarai had wanting to conceive for the last 11 years but could not due to certain gynaecological factors. Keshab Bhattarai, a film-maker said he was overwhelmed with joy. Neeta is a teacher. Meanwhile, six more expectant women are in the queue. Of these, one is expecting quadruplets and two are expecting twins. These women are scheduled to give birth to their babies by the last week of April. “After the success in the results of the first batch, we are hopeful that the other batches to follow will be no trouble,” said Dr Rijal, adding that three Indian doctors, Dr Jaydeep Malhotra, Dr Naresh Malhotra and Dr Suresh Kamat, had supervised the In-Vitro Fertilisation process.
