Free gynaecology services from Wednesday

Kathmandu, January 10:

Minister for Health and Population Giriraj Mani Pokharel today said the government was all set to provide free gynaecology services in all government hospitals across the country from Wednesday.

Speaking at a programme here today, Pokharel said the service was being provided as per the Alma Ata Declaration, which calls on all states to provide basic health services to people free of cost.

“The government will pay the hospitals providing gynaecology services at the rate of Rs 1000, 2000 and 5000 per person depending on the nature of the case,” he added. Pokharel also said the government would make appointments to the vacant posts in Bir Hospital within a week.

He informed that the government had no immediate plan to arrange apprenticeship for

students studying medicine in China.

Pokharel, who is a leader of CPN-Unity-Centre Masal, said the name of the united party after his party merges with the CPN-Maoist would be United CPN-Maoist. He also said the united party would give up Prachanda Path at its espouses Maoism.
