French foreign secretary arriving in Nepal

KATHMANDU: French foreign secretary Maurice Gourdault-Montagne is arriving here on January 9 on a two-day visit marking the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and France.

During the visit, being held at the invitation of foreign secretary Shanker Das Bairagi, Gourdault-Montagne is scheduled to attend the bilateral consultative mechanism meeting to be led by the two foreign secretaries.

Matters relating to bilateral interest and possible events for the observation of the 70th anniversary will be discussed during the meeting, according to Foreign Secretary Bairagi.

Coming April marks the 70th year of the founding of Nepal-France diplomatic relations.
