Freshly appointed CJ Rana takes oath of office
KATHMANDU: Newly appointed Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Nepal, Cholendra Shamsher JB Rana has taken oath of office and secrecy today.
President Bidya Devi Bhandari administered oath of office to Rana at the swearing-in ceremony at Sheetal Niwas this morning. Rana will assume office today.
Rana is expected to remain in the post for four years and become the longest serving CJ since Bishwo Nath Upadhyay served the SC as its CJ for almost four years around 20 years ago.
With this appointment, Rana replaced Chief Justice Om Prakash Mishra, who retired on January 1 after turning 65.
