FRNF-N warns of disrupting CA polls
Kathmandu, February 16:
The Federal Republican National Front-Nepal (FRNF-N) today urged the government to either defer the Constituent Assembly election or immediately address its key demands.
Holding a meaningless CA election without addressing the FRNF-N’s demands would only lead to confrontation, the Front warned.
The FRNF-N’s demands include immediate abolition of monarchy, an all-out PR electoral system and right to self-determination.
The FRNF-N comprises Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Madhes, Federal Democratic National Forum, United Tharu National Front, Federal Limbhuwan State Council, Democratic Madhesi Front, Tamangsaling Autonomous State Council and Madhesi Democratic Front.
“We will disrupt the CA election,” Vice-president of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Madhes Kishore Biswas said at a press conference today. “The CA election is guided by foreign forces,” he said.
He criticised the “one Madhes, one Pradesh” demand raised by the United Madhesi Democratic Front, an alliance of Tarai-Madhes Democratic Party (TMDP), Sadbhawana Party (Mahato) and Madeshi Janadhikar Forum (Yadav).
The Federal Limbhuwan State Council’s Mennisam Yapmi said holding the polls is impossible before fulfiling their demands.
