GAA alumni celebrates golden jubilee
Kathmandu, March 28
Godavari Alumni Association, an alumni of students of St Xavier’s School and St Mary’s School, recently celebrated its golden jubilee.
The programme was attended by morethan 350 alumni members, including spouses of former students and some special invitees.
Inaugurating the programme, former deputy prime minister Prakash Man Singh, an alumnus, unveiled the golden jubilee GAA souvenir, specially published for the occasion.
Singh, in his address, praised GAA for its numerous community works and services to the youth as well as the needy. He also lauded how its members had lived up to the association’s theme, ‘Live for God and Lead for Nepal’.
President of GAA Jyoti Ratna Dhakwha delivered his welcome speech whereas Lalit Bikram Shah, chair of the Board of Trustees of GAA, spoke of the association’s history, role and future with special gratitude to late Kaiser SJB Rana who had donated land for the association’s building.
Similarly, state minister for Industry Megh Raj Nepali, who is also an alumnus, attended the function.
During the programme, Prabhakar SJB Rana, chairman emeritus of Soaltee Hotel Limited, spoke on Xavier schools’ traditions and values which made every student proud.
Key historical moments from the beginning of St Xavier’s School in Godavari in the early 1950s, to the formation of GAA and its activities over the last 50 years were also shown in a documentary film.
