Gongabu Bus Park introduces computerized ticketing system

KATHMANDU: Capitalizing on the lockdown time, the Lhotse Multipurpose Private Ltd has introduced the use of technology in ticketing of bus services at the New Bus Park in Gangabu of Kathmandu.

According to the organization Chairperson Deepak Kunwar, the new system was introduced to minimize the crowds at the ticket counters to avoid infection risks.

"The installation of new technology was as per the government's direction," Kunwar said adding that the government has, with changing time, envisaged the 'Digital Nepal' campaign and we are committed to facilitating the initiative.

As many as 30 counters are computerized, but only 12 counters are delivering the service now and other remaining counters will also switch to the new system soon, according to Kunwar.

"Around 1,500 vehicles here provide two-way services for over 50 districts from Taplejung in the east to Jumla in the west."

Moreover, installation of GPS, a navigating system, will be taking place in every bus here to track the location of a vehicle and reduce the cases of road accidents due to driver’s negligence and wretched condition of roadways.

Gangabu Bus Park which spreads over 161 ropanis of land was established in 2056 under the 'Public-Private Partnership' model.
