Govt against corruption: PM Oli

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today said the incumbent government is focused on controlling corruption.

"I will not indulge in such illegal activity nor will I endure it. I will make the country free of corruption in my tenure as PM," he said while inaugurating a medical building for Bir Hospital. The journey to economic prosperity has started, he said, while heavily coming down on failure to complete projects on time and compromising quality construction work.

"I have heard that foundation stone was laid 11 times for a bridge construction. Action will be taken against such failure to complete a project on time. Continuous monitoring will be carried out," he said.

He also urged doctors and health workers to be serious about their work, referring to various reports of doctors' negligence in treating patients, indicating the graveness of the situation, and insisting on the need for development and expansion of technical education.

The nine-storey surgical building will have 15 well-equipped operating theaters, post-operative wards, and a 40-bed surgical intensive care unit. The project, with an estimated cost of Rs 3.85 billion, will be funded by the government and is targeted to be complete by 2022.
