Government employees form new committee

Kathmandu, April 12:

The seventh National Convention of the Nepal Government Employees’ Organisation (NEGEO) concluded recently with the formulation of policies and programmes of the organisation and the formation of a 45-member central committee.

Addressing the press meet, the NEGEO president, Ganesh Basyal, said, “At the concluding day of our seventh convention, we appointed 45 central committee members and came up with a budget outlay of Rs 25.6 million for three years.”

“The 17 policies of the NEGEO include the responsibility of the organisation towards the security of employees, organisation’s policy on globalisation and privatisation, the role of organisation and others,” said Punya Prasad Dhakal, general secretary, NEGEO.

The Civil Servant Act should be amended immediately, Dhakal said, demanding that the act focus on upholding trade union rights and personal development of employees.

We have also called for the proper management of government employees’ insurance policy, Dhakal said, adding, “We will announce protest programmes if our demands are not addressed at the earliest.”
