KATHMANDU, MARCH 7
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli stated that the government plans to amend the constitution as needed, while also ensuring its effective implementation.
Addressing a meeting of the Karnali Province Assembly (PA) on Friday, the Prime Minister emphasized that the constitution-built on the struggles and sacrifices of the people-guarantees the rights of all citizens, providing them with opportunities to compete and showcase their talents. He affirmed that it is the government's responsibility to safeguard and enforce the constitution, making amendments as required by changing times.
Recalling the seven-point agreement between the CPN-UML and the Nepali Congress prior to the formation of the current government, PM Oli reiterated that any constitutional amendment would not be carried out arbitrarily but rather based on national priorities.
The Prime Minister also underscored the importance of boosting production and productivity, assuring that the upcoming budget would address the needs and concerns of the provinces. He further reaffirmed that the existing political coalition would remain intact until the next general election in three years.
"Rest assured, this government is stable and has a clear vision for progress," he stated, stressing the need for cooperation among all three tiers of government to drive development and national prosperity.
