KATHMANDU, APRIL 3

The Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology has invited protesting teachers for dialogue.

In a statement issued today, Ministry Spokesperson Shiv Kumar Sapkota urged the Nepal Teachers' Union to call off their protest and seek a resolution through discussions.

"We warmly welcome representatives to the Ministry, as the government remains open to meaningful dialogue and reaching a common understanding with the teaching community, just as in the past," he stated.

The Ministry acknowledged the ongoing concerns of teachers and staff from community schools, who have been advocating for the swift passage of the School Education Bill, 2080, aimed at amending and consolidating existing laws on school education. The bill is currently under deliberation in the House of Representatives.

Spokesperson Sapkota reaffirmed the Ministry's commitment to a collaborative approach, emphasizing that the School Education Bill has been drafted through extensive discussions and consultations with representatives of the teaching community.

"Given the inclusive drafting process, it is only natural for teachers and staff to expect the bill's timely enactment. The Ministry remains positive and committed to addressing their concerns," he stated in the release.
