Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has stated that the government will set a new standard in Nepali sports through positive developments.

Addressing the 60th anniversary of the National Sports Council (NSC) on Wednesday, PM Dahal expressed his belief, saying, "I believe a new standard will be set in Nepali sports. I wish NSC success in this regard."

PM Dahal emphasized that sports hold significant potential in Nepal. He reminded that the government has given special attention to sports, recognizing its importance not only for the mental and physical development of individuals but also for the holistic development of the country.

Highlighting the role of sports diplomacy, PM Dahal noted that cooperation, global unity, and reconciliation are facilitated through sports. He added that economic progress is also linked with sports development. The PM reiterated his commitment to giving due attention to sports, literature, art, and technology, emphasizing effective policy implementation and institutional development in sports.

"The government is working to ensure the effective role of the State in promoting more investment in sports, as well as providing prizes, incentives, career advancement, and dignity to players," he stated.

PM Dahal also recalled Nepal's success in the 19th Asian Games held in China, stating that international medals boost players' confidence. He mentioned the construction of stadiums in Pokhara, Beljhundi, and Chyasal, with others under construction in Mulpani, Bharatpur, and Biratnagar.

The PM commended the achievements in the sports sector, stating that they have inspired the entire country.

Also speaking on the occasion were Minister for Youth and Sports, Biraj Bhakta Shrestha, and NSC Member Secretary Tanka Lal Ghising.
