Govt accused of ignoring PSC
Kathmandu, February 16:
The chairman of the Public Service Commission (PSC), Tirtha Man Shakya, has accused the government of transferring and promoting civil servants without heeding the recommendations made by the PSC. Speaking at a programme organised by the Transparency International Nepal and the Centre for Public Policy Debate here today, Shakya said the government had flouted 30 to 40 per cent of its recommendations while promulgating or amending Acts.
“Government bodies are not recognising the independence of the PSC.” A study report on annual reports prepared by the PSC was also made public at the programme. The study said the PSC was not pushing the government to carry out reforms in the field of civil service administration. Dwarika Dhungel, a former secretary, said the PSC examinations have failed to attract the new generation.
