Govt asked to follow panel report
KATHMANDU: The parliamentary committee on Natural Resources and Means today directed the government to immediately shut illegally operated crusher industries and follow recommendations of a report prepared by its sub-committee. The report was endorsed by the committee in a meeting today.
“The committee fully agrees on the report prepared by the sub-committee, which was had after a rigorous field investigation, and directs the government to work according to it,” said Shanta Chaudhary, chairperson of the committee.
Constituent Assembly member Abhisekh Pratap Shah boycotted today’s meeting. He accused the committee of being unfair to industrialists.
“Shah was also in the sub-committee, but he refused to go for the field study; and it is illogical to ask continuation of the rampant extraction of sand and boulders in the Churia range,” he added.
